Ana Ivanovicu00a0won 6-3, 6-2 against Czech Barbora Zahlavova Strycova to reach the quarter-finals at the WTA event here yesterday despite a game penalty for an unauthorised toilet visit.
The seventh-seeded Serb left the court after holding serve to lead 1-0 in the opening set and upon her return was penalised a game. Rather than argue the matter, Ivanovic swept through the next three games with the loss of just two points to lead 4-1.

"It turned out to be good. I think I was so consumed with trying to feel a little bit better, but I think in normal circumstances it would make me really mad," she said.
Strycova was a tricky opponent and just one break decided the opening set. Ivanovic then broke twice to lead 4-1 in the second, dropped her serve on a double-fault in the next game, and then needed nine break points to lead 5-1 before serving out the match to love.
Win all the same
"I really feel like I played better yesterday, so I really feel more comfortable with that win. But obviously tough matches give you more confidence," Ivanovic said.
Second seed Daniela Hantuchova took a little time to adapt to Spaniard Carla Suarez Navarro, falling behind 3-1. But her greater consistency then allowed her to control the remainder of the match and she closed out a 6-4, 6-3 victory with her seventh ace. Germany's Julia Goerges took just 52 minutes to upset fifth seeded Czech left-hander Petra Kvitova 6-2, 6-1.
Switzerland's Patty Schnyder took only 56 minutes to upset eighth-seeded Czech Klara Zakopalova 6-2, 6-0.
