Samsung launched its new solar powered phone, but is everyone excited about it? MiD DAY finds out
Samsung's new solar-powered mobile phone Guru E1107, launched yesterday, is yet to dazzle Bangaloreans.
Though many feel it's a great idea, they need more convincing.
"It could be useful when I go on a trip, but this feature alone wouldn't be enough to make me buy the phone. I would have to look at all the features," said Arnab Dab (25), a manager working for an MNC.
Deshbandhu Sinha (32), project manager in a software company, also said the feature may come in handy on a trip.u00a0
"You can always change a phone at home. But when you use public transportation where there are no charging facilities, it could be convenient."
Domlur Venu (33), a real estate agent, added, "There are power cuts in Bangalore. When the power is out, you have an alternate way to charge your phone. It is useful," he said.u00a0
Akshay Singh, 16, student, stated the obvious. "You don't have to worry about charging. If you forget to charge your phone, you have another option."
However, some don't even think they will need solar power.
"It never happens that I'm not able to charge my phone. So I guess I don't need this feature," said Nazlah Fathima (22), a marketing executive.
Who's the Guru?
>>The phone has a solar panel on the back. An hour in good sunlight provides around five to ten minutes of usage. It requires 40 hours of solar energy for the battery to be fully charged.
