Taking for granted a new Chinese eatery in the suburbs, WHAT's ON hesitated to step into Wanna Sea China but came out with Oriental affections
With a wannabe name like Wanna Sea China, the food was certainly begging that it not be returned to the chef what if he turned out to be a karate-kung fu expert? Visions of meat chunks bobbing in muddy gravy, ajinomoto spiked dishes to give an essence of taste, elastic noodles wriggling to unknot themselves harangued us on our way to the oriental jau ga (restaurants that specialise in sea food). Located at Yari Road, Wanna Sea China has taken over Kobe Sizzlers and we stepped in to find out if the place was worth coming back to. 
Ambience: Wanna Sea China has not changed a speck of dust in the place where the sizzler chain stood formerly. Not even a Cheongsam-clad woman to wait tables. What a bummer!
On The Menu: Fresh lime water (Rs 15) was perhaps the tangiest lime water we've had in ages. Our teeth instantly froze into lemon drops. We ordered Manchow (Rs 75) and Sweet Corn (Rs 75) soups to s-s-slurp our time here but they turned out to be soul stirring (clichu00e9). We were sure this place is a hoax. Fried Chicken Wantons (Rs 85) immediately dashed our hopes. The crust was crisp and light; the chicken filling was mildly flavoured with just enough to fill a morsel. We were checking each other for reaction already. Do we like this place? Chilli Pepper Chicken (Rs 110), gorgeously tossed with shallots and capsicum, had our tongues tickling, and Crispy Chicken in 5 Spices (Rs 110) looked dangerously red but tasted deceptively sweet. And then there was the onslaught of Chinese tricks. The Fish in Black Bean Sauce (Rs 120) and Chicken in Oyster Sauce (Rs 110) with Hakka Noodles (Rs 90) and Steamed Rice (Rs 40) was simply great. The fish didn't stink and had a fine texture; oyster sauce didn't drip like a runny nose but was smooth as gelatin silk. The Sizzling Brownie (Rs 90) was a perfect chocolate gooey ending to the sumptuous meal.u00a0
Service: Ever since they opened, they've had very few tables full, which explains why service was nan chaku swift. Beverages on the menu are listed under a 'Liquids' category. Sounds strange, but given that the food here is 'solid' we won't complain. Music is Celine Dion, wonder why?
