The shocking decision of senior leader LK Advani to resign from all party posts hasn’t gone well with BJP’s allies in the NDA. Sanjay Raut, spokesperson of one the oldest ally of the BJP -- Shiv Sena, said that their party found the decision unbelievable.
“We can’t imagine NDA without Advaniji. He’s the tallest leader in the country and we need him,” he said. Raut claimed that Balasaheb Thackeray, Atal Bihar Vajpayee and Advani formed the NDA and that the Shiv Sena won’t let it break so easily. “We will go and talk to him. We’ll try to convince him and I’m sure he’ll take back his resignation.” He added that Advani is like a father figure to them.
While the Sena, in its mouthpiece Saamna, carried headlines praising Modi’s elevation as the chief of BJP election board, the party changed it tunes after Advani resigned yesterday. Many in the Sena also termed the incident as painful.
Rahul Narvekar, other spokesperson of the Sena said, “It is unfortunate that a leader like Advaniji has resigned. He’s the only person in the NDA with such vast experience, and also he’s one of the three founders of NDA. While Balasaheb is no more, and Atalji is ill, it’s only Advaniji who’s there to guide us. We surely need his guidance, and are hopeful that he’ll be there.
” When asked if they too -- like the JD (U) -- believe that the alliance with the BJP is on ventilator, Narvekar said, “NDA is strong and it will overcome every thing. We are sure Advaniji will come back and lead us in the forthcoming elections.”
