The theme for this New Year's party is kinky and bold. Or so it seems with predictions from fashion gurus and event organisers. And the bolder you get the better.
From the rising demand for Kamasutra-theme chocolates, cakes and confectioneries to crazy, kinky theme parties, it's all happening out there.
Raghav Roy Kapur, Founder, Live Wire Event company, said, "The city's bored with old party themes. This year we have a big demand for 'gold dusk' dancers, Brazilian dancers and international performances."u00a0
In terms of fashion, Pune girls have become far more experimental and daring. Short and backless dresses seem to be more in demand.
Priyanka Rajeev, city designer, said, "Though the neckline is going higher, the length of the dresses is getting shorter. I have clients coming to me for very short dresses. For men it's scarves and formal jackets that are hot."
Rutuja Baravkkar, owner of multi-designer store IRIS, said, "Along with gowns, short and backless cocktail dresses are picked up by women. I can say that Pune girls are getting bold."
Sizzling themes
Even parties, both commercial and private, have naughtier and sizzling themes. Starting from Hawaii setting, pole or belly dancers to popular DJs, party planners have to meet demands for all.
DJ Jiten Singh, event organiser, said, "I have been getting calls for commercial and private parties who want a Morocco or a casino theme, fire and belly dancers and the best DJs in the city. And they are ready to pay any price for it."
A little spice
Sarita Gupta, who makes naughty chocolates along with other confectioneries, said, "I have started making chocolates in shape of naked women, Kamasutra, breasts, penis for the last one week. The demand for such chocolates is high this season, and I have been getting orders from both women and men."
It's not only chocolates, but cakes are equally in demand from all age groups. Pinky Mathur, who has been making all kinds of naughty theme cakes for the last seven years, said, "I have seen a demand spike of almost 40 per cent during this month not only for Christmas or New Year but also for bachelor parties. Yesterday, a woman had come to order a cake with Santa wearing a furry bra. That's the kind of orders I have been getting."
Nikita Rao (name changed), an IT professional, said, "For our first wedding anniversary I want to do something mischievous and memorial for my husband. So far I have planned to order some champagne, sexy cakes and dress up like a brunette for my hubby. It's going to be fun."
