Pawan Hans chopper makes emergency landing in Palghar

A six-seater Pawan Hans chopper on Saturday afternoon made a precautionary landing at Kelva in Palghar. The pilot Paramjeet Singh and co-pilot Suneeta owing to the poor weather conditions took this call. The chopper that took off from Vadodara was on its way to Juhu aerodrome.


Two officials of Gas Authority of India Limited (GIAL) were on an aerial survey. They were in all six people on board. These included two pilots, two GIAL employees, an aircraft engineer and a technician. The Bell 407 chopper however landed fae at Juhu at 4.55pm after which the pilots filed a routine incident report.


"The GIAL officials conduct an aerial survey of the pipelines. Due to survey the flying is done on a very slow speed," explained a Pawan Hans official.


General Manager of western Region Sanjay Kumar of Pawan hans stated, "Pawan Hans Limited (PHL) helicopter VT-PHV (AS 350 B3) deployed for GAIL has carried out a precautionary landing at school ground in Kelva. Radial was at 353/32 Nautical Mile from Mumbai and landed due to bad weather and low cloud base. Approximate time of the landing at Kelva is told to be 1.40 pm however it landed at Juhu after weather got cleared."

Another Pawan Hans helicopter had made an emergency landing nearby Delhi two days back.
