District Collector Vikas Deshmukh, yesterday, told media persons that in a recently held meeting of district pollution board officials, a decision to send the notice was taken, as the companies were polluting the rivers in Maval Taluka and in Uruli.

“The Board members, along with the high ranking officials, would henceforth pay surprise visits to various industries to check whether they are polluting the waters,” said Deshmukh.

He said that strict action would be taken against those companies, which were found polluting the nearby rivers. Deshmukh also gave orders to the district pollution board to draft environmental policies of the district by March 31.
