A renowned writer, singer and orator, Deshpande always wanted his fans to embrace all forms of art. His writings brought smile on the face of almost every Marathi reader. And what else could be a better way to pay tribute to the great personality than with an evening comprising film screenings, theatre shows, music performances and exploring literature and art. And the organisers of the festival — P N Gadgil and Sons and Akshay Sanskrutik — promises all that and more.

Some of the major highlights of Day one (November 7) include screening of documentary films, and plays like Smritichitre, Vada Chirebandi and Hmaidabai Ki Kothi under the direction of Vijaya Mehta at the Archive Theatre at Prabhat Road. The festival will also see a screening of the Hindi play Adhantar at Film Institute, Law College Road followed by a master class with Vijaya Mehta in the afternoon.
