Railway offers budget Bharat Darshan

A TOUR across tourist spots of India for the masses that's what the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) will offer Mumbaikars. The IRCTC has already organised as many as three tours, originating from various locations and tourist spots.

The fourth Bharat Darshan trip will begin from February 8 from Mumbai and head towards places like Goa, Ernakulam, Rameshwaram, Madurai, Kancheepuram, Kanyakumari, Mamallapuram, Chennai and Tirupati. It will cost Rs 5,670 per person for the whole tour and passengers will be brought back to Mumbai on February 18. The third Bharat Darshan trip, for which bookings are complete, will begin from Bhopal on January 24 and go to places such as Goa, Ujjain, Vadodara, Mumbai, Pune, Kanyakumari, Rameshwaram and Chennai.

Each of the trips will have tourism students as guides. "The intention is to enable the middle class to tour the country at a very low cost. Every aspect, including meals, accommodation and traveling to various places, will be taken care of by the IRCTC," said IRCTC general manager Bela Meena, adding, "There are two booking points Mumbai and Pune, from where the bookings can be done and tourists can board. No enroute bookings will be allowed."u00a0 Bookings of the February 8 trip from Mumbai can be done from the IRCTC office at CST or on the Rail Tourism website.
