Three inebriated Nepali nationals sharing flat in Antop Hill argue over electricity bill; two suspects team up and smash the third roommate's head with a boulder at a public park
Anger fuelled by a country-liquor binge and differences over payment of bills between three roommates ended in the grisly murder of one person in the wee hours of Wednesday. Nepali nationals Bam Bahadur (35), Sunil Manbahadur (26), Raj Acharya (27), Sunil Thapa and three others shared a rented room in Antop Hill area, and worked for a catering company.
On Tuesday, the trio downed a few pegs at a country liquor bar and an argument broke out over contributing towards the electricity bill. The trio went to a public park near sector-5 at Antop Hill in the wee hours of Wednesday, where Manbahadur and Acharya smashed Bahadur’s head with a boulder.

The murder came to light when Thapa woke up and went to fill water from a tank in the park and discovered Bahadur’s body with a bloody stone resting on his face. Thapa immediately informed the police, and during the preliminary investigation, the police learned that Manbahadur and Acharya had fought with the deceased and were absconding. The police tracked down both suspects, who confessed to their crime during interrogation.
“The three stayed with four other persons in the same flat. The accused and the deceased were under the influence of alcohol and the main reason for conflict was payment of bills. They had fought over the issue several times in the past,” said a police officer from Antop Hill police station. The accused were booked under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intention). They were produced in court yesterday and have been remanded in police custody.u00a0
