RR taken aback by state of police station after surprise visit

The officials of Bhuinj police station close to Satara city were taken by surprise when Home Minister R R Patil's convoy halted at the police station around 8 pm on Monday.

According to sources, the Home Minister, who was there for 10 minutes, expressed displeasure over cleanliness and other facilities at the police station. There was reportedly no electricity at the police station when Patil visited.

When MiD DAY contacted Bhuinj Police Station, Senior Police Inspector, Sawant (who refused to give his full name), said that the Home Minister had taken a halt to freshen up and this could not be termed as visit.
The Inspector said that there was no power cut and they had an inverter in the station.

He told MiD DAY that Patil took halt and was served tea. Sawant denied that the minister had expressed any displeasure about cleanliness. He said that since the police station is located on the highway, many ministers come here to freshen up. Home Minister R R Patil was unavailable for comment even after repeated attempts.
