When did this thought of recycling plastic come to you?
I started doing this about a year-and-a-half ago and I wanted to use something like plastic and recycle it to produce a piece of jewellery.

How long have you been in Bangalore and what have you been doing here?
I arrived here in mid July and I've been working with women entrepreneurs and helping teach them how to use plastic waste and turn it into a fine piece of jewellery like a chain or an earring. I collaborated with Ubuntu at Work and taught the women entrepreneurs how to go about it.
How did the women entrepreneurs respond?
They learnt quickly, which was really good. Some of them could finish the work in about 20 minutes and that was really good to see. They picked up fast.
How long do you take to finish a piece?
(Smiles) I'm faster than that, obviously.
What do you plan on doing next?
I'm going back to Sweden soon. I have a studio there and I'm going back to work at my studio for now.u00a0
How did the women of Bangalore respond to your collection?
It was delightful. Everyone seemed very interested and we've also got quite a few orders. People have been very supportive of the cause and I'd love to work and collaborate with non profit organisations in India again.
Kumvana Gomani held an exhibition of her work at Olive Beach recently with the help of Ubuntu at Work, a nascent global network that started in December, that brings micro women entrepreneurs and professionals together. This is their first project.
