Ankit Ramnaresh Saingar (16), a Std IX student of Genba More School in Vishrantwadi, was attacked by two goons at Kalwad Vasti in the area late last night.

Ankit said that the goons were carrying a three-inch paper-cutting knife and made six cuts on his body. He said they gagged him with a handkerchief which was sprinkled with a chloroform-like chemical and he lost consciousness soon after. "I regained consciousness at 9.30 pm and was brought out of the place by a Good Samaritan," he said.

Ankit's cousin, Shatrughna Singh, a tiles dealer, contacted the Lohagaon police and took him to Sassoon hospital for treatment. Tushar Tonde, the resident medical officer at Sassoon, said the cuts were not deep and that the boy was out of danger.

Allegations
Singh said that the attack may have been orchestrated by his locality resident Mahendrasingh Tomar. He alleged that Tomar's goons had earlier made a similar attack on him and a complaint filed at the Yerawada police station had not yielded any results.u00a0

No FIR
The Lohagaon police said they had not registered an FIR in Ankit's case but refused to comment further.
Tomar was unavailable for comment.
