Five arrested; were allegedly in the city to cash inu00a0 on the Commonwealth Games

While Indian athletes struck gold during the Commonwealth Games, some enterprising individuals used the opportunity to rake in the moolah. Five persons including three girls and two pimps, who were allegedly running a sex racket in south Delhi, were arrested by the police on Sunday. One of the girls reportedly told the police that they had been active in Gurgaon for a while now and had come to Delhi to make money during the Commonwealth Games.

"The girls and pimps gave us false addresses. They are part of an interstate sex racket. Cops have failed to discover their antecedents so far as their real identity has not been established," said a police source.
The culprits were using a Santro car belonging to a Rohini-based businessman. Police said that they can't divulge more information about the vehicle's owner.

"First of all a DD entry (no. 24 B) was made to conduct a raid on their said address at Vasant Kunj (south) police station. We had a tip-off that they girl along with their pimp will be coming to the Metro Pillar no. 126 in the area. They mostly targeted people who visited upscale restaurants and bars in the area," said the police source. A cop was sent in as a decoy customer who contacted one of the pimps, later identified as Anil Chaudhary. The cop struck a deal of Rs 3000 to spend half an hour with a girl and reportedly gave him 1000 rupees as advance.

After some time, three girls were brought there by the pimp in the Santro (number plate - DL3CAB3409). The decoy was made to talk to each girl. Later on the girl, who was selected, demanded extra cash for providing a room for half an hour. Police then conducted a raid and arrested the culprits," the source added.

The driver of the car was identified as Raju Thapa, a native of Nepal. An FIR under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act was registered at Vasant Kunj (south) police station.
