It's time to boogie with Latino Amigos. WHAT's ON checked out the latest dance form to hit the city

The sensual moves and romantic overtones is what makes Salsa so alluring. If you want to learn the dance form, you can join Latino Amigos, which is the latest dance community in the city. Founder Shrrutii Keer says, "Post-marriage, I wanted to learn something which was elegant and fast to learn. Hence, I learnt Salsa but did not have any place to practice. That's why I started the first ever Salsa community or forum in the city," shares Shrrutii. The most remarkable aspect of this community is that you can learn Salsa from any master, even though you are not from his school.

USP: The community intends to be a common forum for all Salsa lovers. There are festivals and workshops lined up and there are plans to provide an international platform for outstanding talent.

Members: The members are from famous dance schools scattered all over Pune. A random section of students learning under Kaytee Namgyal, Sandeep Soparrkar and Rocky Poonawala are also part of this community. Plus, there are some members who do not belong to any school. It essentially provides a common forum where fresh and exceptional talents are always welcome apart from the masters.

Membership: They have the least formalities to be adhered to, if you wish to be a member. Of course, the binding factor is your shared passion for dance. A person can come and attend the parties and fill their details in a form right there.

Access through facebook: If you have a Facebook account, access the online information by typing "salsationpune" and send a request to the group to be a member. There is absolutely no membership fee and you can just walk in and watch the workshops and performances for free. You only have to pay the entry fee, which depends on the venue where the performance is happening.

"Since we are at a nascent stage, the meetings are co-ordinated amongst the school heads and they pass down the relevant information to the students. If somebody has the caliber and wishes to perform, they are allowed to perform at the Latino Amigos Latino Nights," informs Shrrutii.

Their second meet is scheduled for April 18 at Post 91, Koregaon Park.
