If you are saturated with junk food and crave for a healthy change, your prayers have been answered. Started by Dr Archana Lawanghare, this juice parlour offers sugar-free natural juices, shakes and healthy low-fat snacks. They also take care not to dilute the drinks by adding water, so that the essential nutrients are not lost.

Juice Lounge on DP Road

Ambience: At the rectangular juice parlour, you can either sit downstairs or head upstairs. The dark mahogany furniture, white walls and white cushions are bathed in a peach-coloured tint thanks to the mellow lighting.u00a0

We tried: Scanning through the menu, we were amazed at the variety on offer. They offer power juices, smoothies and milk shakes (made from skimmed milk), hot soups, pastas, whole-wheat bread grilled sandwiches and fresh salads.u00a0

From the Power Juices section, we tried a Very Berry (Rs 60), made from black grapes, strawberry, apple and lemon. It was tangy but refreshing. From among the Low Fat Smoothies, we opted for Exotica (Rs 70), made from mango, strawberry, orange and honey and blended in low-fat yogurt. The bitterness of the yoghurt took us by surprise as we expected it to be sweet, but it was not too bad once the initial shock was gone. The Memory Booster (Rs 60) had a mix of carrots, beetroot, apple and spinach. The taste of the carrot was overpowering all other flavours but we still liked its unique flavour.

The Nachos (Rs 70) were crispy, and tasty, thanks to the yummy low-fat cheese sauce. The Chicken Hawaiian Salad (Rs 100) included chicken, onions, lettuce, celery, dry fruits and had a mayonnaise dressing. We liked the crunchy dry fruits but the dressing could have been better.

The Pasta Funghi (Rs 120) included mushrooms tossed with garlic, celery, white wine and white sauce. The wine gave it a distinctive flavour and it tasted delicious once we added some Tobasco sauce.

They also offer specific juices that can boost your immunity, liver function and give you energy. The Gym Freaks Special are for those on a workout mode while the Heavy Gainer Juice (Rs 100) is made from egg whites, protein powder and milk and ensures that you gain weight.

Service: The attendants were always at our beck and call.

At: Nalin Chambers, 173, Dhole Patil Road, opposite Hotel Kapila, near Ganpati Chowk. Open all seven days, from 8 am to 11 pm
