An innovative technology now allows one to monitor security guards protecting company premises. The Guard Patrolling System based on I button technology is imported from the US, which works on the basis of several micro-chip tags installed at strategically important points in the premises. The guard on patrol duty is required to punch the tags as he patrols the property.

The log of the guards movements thus created is communicated via a transmitting unit, which is attached to a computer screen with a USB port. Centaur Pharmaceutical Pvt Ltd, Hinjewadi, installed the patrolling system recently.
Manaswini Hanrao, assistant manager of accounts, said, "Despite the presence of security guards, some hydrants on our property were stolen, which is why we installed the system, which helps us obtain the latest information on the movement of our guards. Even if a guard misses a single tag, we can immediately act on it," said Hanrao.
Amit Pawar of D Access Security Systems Ltd, the suppliers of the Guard Patrolling System, said "We have developed the indigenous software for guard patrolling system imported from US. The device helps one check snoring guards by giving an exact log of the guards' movements. If you have a 3G mobile, you can get an update on your phone as well, and issue orders accordingly."
