Soha signs off

Soha Ali Khan has been quite busy. And the actor is full of stories. Soha, who is just back from a talk on Indian Cinema at Harvard and is busy learning the sign language, talks to CS:

Foren talk
Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal and other Indian filmmakers have been a regular at the Harvard University. But this was the first time they were screening a contemporary film - Rang De Basanti. The students were surprised that it was a two-and-half hour film with an interval. The Q&A went on for more than an hour and the discussion veered to contemporary issues like naxalism, Anna Hazare, Indian politics and corruption and how the government was dealing with all this. Thankfully, I'd done loads and loads of research, so I managed fine.

Sign age
When I got a chance to learn the sign language for my upcoming film, I took it up. After all, learning an application goes beyond just your performance. Now I can interact with a certain community of people as well as use my knowledge to play something as simple as Dumb Charades.

Playing with words
Speaking of games, the crossword is my favourite. I grew up playing word games with my mother and aunt. It keeps my mind engaged and stimulates the brain as well. But the true reason is that I can't do numbers and so I stick to word puzzles. I love to play Scrabble and my mom is my main competitor; she's excellent.
