It's serious business making people laugh; just ask stand-up comedians Gordon Southern and James Moffett, who are in town for their upcoming show. While Moffett hails from South Australia and is a relative newcomer to the stand-up scene, British comedian Southern has over 16 years of experience under his belt. He is also a writer and performer on numerous BBC comedy shows.

How did the transition happen from being a massage therapist to becoming a stand-up comedian?
Moffett:
I was always the funny guy in school and my grades were pretty bad since I was always fooling around. Studying massage was convenient, as it doesn't require high grades. I was even working at a resort for a couple of years till I walked past an open mic comedy night. It was actually my parents who advised me to get into comedy and I did so. It's a great challenge but once you make an audience go wild, there's no turning back.

Tell us about the short films that you are working on.
Moffett:
I mainly do short comedy sketches and sometimes use them for my live shows. Some of my friends are actors, so I tend to work with them. I feel that comedy is different when you film it and some things work better on film than on stage.

How was the experience of being part of The Edinburgh Fringe comedy festival?
Southern:
It's a sort of summer camp for comedians and I had a funny, sexy, boozy time. You need a holiday afterwards.

What are you looking forward to from this trip to India?
Moffett:
It's my first trip out of Australia, so I am looking forward to everything. I am bored with Australia.
Southern: Am looking for affordable homemade electrical goods and the opportunity of bringing the British swine flu epidemic to a wider audience!

What can we look forward to in your show?
Moffett:
Look forward to me juggling 43 monkeys while I eat a sandwich! Nah, I am just kidding.
Southern: Some jokes that are funny and intellectually significant and if it didn't make you laugh, it's significant!
