Murdered RTI activist Satish Shetty had contacted Narmada Bachao Andolan leader Medha Patkar, a week before he was shot. "He told me that he had some information on the land grabbing case in Maval by IRB builders. I don't think the Pune police will be able to conduct an impartial inquiry. The case should be handed to the CBI," Patkar said.
Minister of State (Home) Ramesh Bagwe along with Suresh Shetty, the minister of state (higher education) visited Shetty's family yesterday. Both leaders had assured that a probe would be initiated.u00a0 Satish's brother Sandip told MiD DAY, "The HC has asked the police to file an affidavit about their investigations on Thursday. If we find the course of the investigationss unsatisfactory, we will move the HC and demand a CBI inquiry."u00a0

Maruti Bhapkar, an RTI activist and local corporator, said he was unhappy with the progress that had been made in the case so far. "Shetty was supposed to get police protection on Thursday u2014 a day before he was murdered," said Bhapkar. Superintendent of police Pratap Dighavkar told MiD DAY, "We made our fourth arrest yesterday."
