As many as 129 farmers were arrested in Dadri area, while marching to a factory site demanding additional bonus payment for land acquired from them as per the "hike" in compensation amount.

Villagers of Dhoom Manikpur, Ranoli and Badpura proceeded towards a site near Ambuja Cement factory, when they were arrested, police said.

Villagers claimed that they were given compensation of Rs 314 per square metre and were assured of granting the balance amount as per the hike in compensation.

Recently state government had announced ex-gratia bonus of Rs 310 per square metre for Ghori Bachheda villagers. Meanwhile, District Magistrate Sharvan Kumar Sharma said, "Farmers' demand was unjustified.

At the time of land acquisition they had given up possession only after receiving the then prevailing rates."
