Six women have been arrested for allegedly pilfering Rs 26,370 from the hundi of the Kaleeswari temple at Mecheri

Salem: Six women have been arrested for allegedly pilfering Rs 26,370 from the hundi of the Kaleeswari temple at Mecheri.

They were nabbed after CCTV footage showed them hiding the cash in their jackets and sarees during counting on Thursday, police said.

Temple women staff searched them and recovered the money, they said. About 90 engineering college students and women from Self Help Groups were among those present during counting, police said.
