Iu00a0have done this trek before. But everytime, before embarking on this journey, I think more than twice at least. For one, the distance is really killing. But once you have been bold enough to make that trek and go all the way from the south of the Capital to its West, past bustling markets and crowded shops, the end results are very very sweet. I had earlier gone to Hilton Janakpuri for a taste of their Chinese restaurant Chynna Gold, so it was simply the lure of good food that made me traverse all the way to Janakpuri, for Italian this time. 
The restaurant is designed like an old Italian kitchen

Located on the second floor of the hotel, Pomodoro overlooks the tastefully designed lobby and is designed like an old Italian kitchen with an open kitchen. So you get a glimpse of what's the chefs are tossing.
There is also an Osteria, which can be translated to 'a place where the owner of a house hosts people'. This here is a table, bang in the middle of the restaurant, showcasing a wide variety of 'salts'. As you enter the restaurant, you will find a 'wine showcase' which has Italian wines.

From agra to Italy
One interesting thing about the restaurant here is that the Chef de Cuisine, Sanjeev Sharma, is as Indian as Indian can be. Originally from Agra, the chef believes one doesn't necessarily have to be an Italian to grasp the pulse of Italian cooking. Fair enough, we thought, as long as the food tastes authentic.
The culinary journey
Began with some crisp Bruschetta, topped with spiced tomatoes,u00a0fresh herbs, melted Fontina cheese, herbed mushrooms and more. We liked the Insalata mista con gamberi all aglio with assorted lettuce, marinated tomatoes, grilled asparagus and zucchini, tossed with a light herb dressing and crowned with spiced garlic prawns. It was spicy and tasty. The Risotto alla Contadina with shredded chicken breast and Taleggio cheese deserves special mention for sheer good taste. We wrapped up the meal with Tiramisu, the traditional Italian mascarpone mousse with coffee flavoured sponge and left with a happily bloated tummy. Italian all the way, we say!
