The incident took place at Brookfield Willows in Pisoli near Kondhwa yesterday afternoon. The deceased has been identified as Firoz Imtiyaz Shaikh, a resident of Gultekadi. Police suspect that Shaikh was fixing a safety net when he fell. Construction at the site is being carried out by Nirmal Developers.

Hajiya Shaikh, aunt of Firoz, said, “When we came to know about the incident, it was quite late. As per the police, he was taken to Sassoon General Hospital after the incident but doctors declared him dead on arrival. We are so shocked by the incident that we haven’t even informed his mother. We also did not know about his job at the construction site. His father died around 4 years ago, and he was the only breadwinner in the family.”

Shaikh is survived by his mother -- who works for a catering unit -- a 12-year-old sister and an 8-year-old brother. “We have registered a case of accidental death. We have to investigate the matter. We don’t know what Shaikh was doing at that site. Considering other factors, we will lodge a complaint against the builder or contractor on Monday,” informed Pandharinath Mandhare, inspector of Kondhwa police station. u00a0
