A 15-year-old girl was tortured to death by her cousin sister and her husband in Bahadurgarh area of Ghaziabad, police said Thursday.

The Superintendent of Police (Rural), Capt. M.M. Baig said a woman named Kavita Tomar had given birth to a son about six months back. In order to look after her child, Kavita called her cousin sister Shweta (name changed) from her house in Sikandrabad.

"Around three-four days back, she found that her earrings and Rs.1,000 were missing from the place where she had kept them. Suspecting that they were stolen by Shweta, Kavita and her husband Amit Tomar thrashed her with a hockey stick," he said.

"They also beat her up with an iron chain and branded her back with a hot iron blower rod," Baig said.

The girl was found screaming in the evening Wednesday by her neighbours who informed the police. The girl was rushed to a nearby hospital and she died Thursday morning.

The girl's father Shishu Pal Singh lodged a FIR against tomar and his wife Kavita at the Bahadurgarh police station. Shishu Pal and Kavita's father are real brothers. The police recovered a hockey, a chain and the iron blower used to torture the girl from the couple's room.

Kavita's earrings and the Rs.1,000 were also lying in the adjacent room, indicating that Shweta had nothing to do with it.

"A case has been registered against Amit and his wife Kavita under sections 307, 326, 511 and 376 of IPC. It would be converted into murder. Both have been registered," Baig said.
