Ten thousand school children from 40 schools and eight colleges are expected to participate in the 17th edition of Terry Fox Run to be held on February 1, 2015. The organisers are hoping to raise an amount of Rs six crore for the research of cancer in children.
Gul Kripalani, Convenor of Terry Fox Committee (India), said, “There is more awareness now about the Terry Fox Run amongst Mumbaikars. Even some adults have called to ask if they could join the kids for the race. This year, corporates have opened up their hearts and pockets to contribute towards this cause.”
The Terry Fox Run currently exists in cities like New Delhi, Bangalore and Chennai, apart from Mumbai. The Terry Fox Committee has plans to start similar runs in other cities like Pune, Nashik and Kolkata.
