Exam worry causes students to prefer studies to Royal Challengers and Punjab Kings XI match on Tuesday

Sources in the Royal Challengers camp said they are not expecting more than 60 per cent of the total seats to be filled at the Chinnaswamy stadium when the team faces Punjab Kings XI, on Tuesday.

During the first edition of the IPL at the stadium, cricket lovers spent an entire night queuing up for tickets. This time, despite the heavy spending on promos and innovative advertisements, the crowds appear to be keeping away.

SSLC exams begin on April 1. With students engrossed in studies, and parents walking the extra mile to ensure cricket does not come in the way of their children's academic performance, the IPL is the obvious casualty.

"The picture is not so gloomy. The turn out will not be less than 60 percent," said Sunil Kumar from DNA Networks, which is managing the event.

The organizers are going all out to ensure the crowds come. Roping in film stars to cheer the home team and massive ad campaigns across media channels are being used towards this end.

Spectators will have to cough up Rs 2,750 per ticket to be seen with Ramya, while the ticket price for D Corporate Box is Rs 1,100.
