As long as there are politicians, a fine art will exist the art of political deception, writes Rishika Taneja

Politicians, these leaders are called, and they range from paragons of virtue to lying scoundrels in the eyes of the public.

Be it the twisting of never ending vows of Indian politicians, the tirade on termination of Jews by the charismatic Hitler, the poor gullible people were and are always taken in. It is in the times of desperation that people are ready to believe anything so long as there is someone who would lead, take responsibility.

Does this political deception always lurk in the sinister, malicious minds of politicians hungry for power? No. It is present in every dimension of life. Be it a student leader who leads rebel students, or home politics, it is omnipresent.

The people who deceive do it with such elan that it is hard to find a single flaw in their fascinating world of make-believe. And when the cat is out of the bag, people can't but praise their immaculate planning and, there lurks a respect for their shrewd calculating mind. After all, man always admires a superior intellect. Hitler is still considered a charismatic man.

Anything may be said and believed. The word 'credibility' ceases to exist. As Nazi propaganda minister Goebbels, after years of experience, said, "Tell a lie a thousand times and it becomes the truth." As long as there are politicians, a fine art will existu2014the art of political deception.
