Tension prevailed in the city yesterday following Tuesday’s incident of stone pelting on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) Chief Raj Thackeray’s convoy by alleged Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) workers in Ahmednagar, with MNS supporters attacking NCP office in Shukrawar Peth.

According to NCP’s Organisational Secretary Ranjit Pardeshi, MNS workers pelted with stones and vandalised the office of the party’s city president. Condemning the attack, he said, “We had planned to march towards MNS office to register our protest, however considering the appeal made by the police, we returned from Mahatma Phule Mandai area.”

Considering the possibility of attack by NCP workers, cops were deployed at the MNS office in Narayan Peth. Speaking to MiD DAY, Narendra Tamboli, associate secretary of Maharashtra Navnirman Kamgar Sena. “It’s they (NCP workers) who started this. They shouldn’t have attacked saheb’s (Raj Thackeray) car. We are not going to take it lying down.”

Meanwhile, the Khadaki police have registered a complaint against the hooligans. However, no arrests have been yet been made as yet.u00a0
