This egg-y fantasy

We're sure you've heard of The Egg Factory, but if you haven't, it's about time you checked it out! The only destination in town for egg in its every avatar, we're sure you'll thank us for this one

There's something definitely egg-y about this place, and if you haven't yet figured out that IT'S THE WHOLE ****ING MENU as yet, then may be its elementary (school) that you need, dear friend.

A whole restaurant devoted to the humble yolky breakfast regular, this restaurant is home to much-loved egg-delicacies from the world over.

From the humble burjee (Indian scramble) to more elaborate egg-based desserts, pastas and so much more, this eatery deserves an award for being probably the only food (not cuisine) theme based restaurant in the city. Yes, we've had the corn(y) ones, but were we happy they disappeared as soon as they came!

The new menu at factory boasts of some really cool add-ons.

A set of fresh and extremely appetizing fruit juice combinations, and another set of equally well-crafted pasta dishes that just complete the picture when one considers that their latest entrant is a new curry and rice combo with egg and paneer options.

I was personally impressed with the food as I always am and hence would prefer if this got on to my colleagues reviews, all three of them eating there for the first time...

Just one step into this restaurant and I was amazed by the number of dishes that they seem to have concocted with eggs.

Aptly called The Egg Factory, they seem to churn out a number of fascinating dishes, including simple egg dishes like bull's eye, scrambled eggs and the spicy egg burjee and equally complicated egg-samplers, frittatas and an added eggxotica menu.

The burjee needs special mention as it is tastefully prepared and though it's called spicy, it's just nice with only enough spice to make you take a swig of water now and then, but then again I like Andhra food, so I guess, there's no argument there!

I dug into a garden frittata and believe me, while it was probably the tastiest dish on the menu; it filled exactly 1/10th of my stomach.

I needed more food and hence binged on some really yummy dessert options. The 'Choco Sin and Mango and Strawberry Cheesecakes' aren't actually cheesecakes, but they taste like heaven, so we'll let them pass.

My colleague Romal seemed orgasmic about the Caramel Custard, but I'd prefer a Custard Cake, available around the corner, instead any day.

Special mention goes out to the new juice options including my favourite, Blend it like Hawaii pineapple, papaya and mango and another one called Cholorophyll Fix basil, mint and soda.

Both are extremely refreshing and would win hands down over most other 'mocktails' available across the city.

Though the name is slightly reminiscent of the kind of industrial agricultural processes that get animal rights activists up in arms, you'll find nothing to protest about at The Egg Factory.

This cute little place on St Mark's Road serves up delicious egg dishes both Indian and international for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

If you're in doubt whether a whole menu could seriously be created on this theme (and I'll admit, I did too) you've clearly underestimated the power of the humble egg!

In addition to omelets, frittatas and burjees, The Egg Factory serves up curry, pasta and Mexican cuisine specialties, plus a lip-smacking range of egg based deserts.

The menu takes the form of an electrical appliance instruction booklet and is just as confusing, but it's a great original touch.

Don't worry if you have to take your time to order, because service is quick as lightning without compromising on freshness.

I'll refrain from making a bad pun based on the old "which came first: the chicken or the egg?" proverb, because I like the place so much, but you can rest assured, no chicken finds its way onto your plates as the egg factory is either purely eggitarian or vegetarian.

When my friends nudged me to check out the new menu at The Egg Factory, I wasn't too kicked about an all-egg place.

Thankfully however, the quaint restaurant has many vegetarian options too. I picked the Penne Alfredo with Cilantro Pesto which was well cooked and the white sauce was just perfect, not too watered down nor too creamy.

The portion size of the pasta was also just right,u00a0 it filled me quite right. I washed down the yummy bowl with an I-love-Carrot juice, which was a perfect thirst quencher and justified my eating a big bowl of carbs.

A piece of advice: After you're done eating, don't forget to check out the quirky washroom. We're not telling what's in store... you just have to check it out yourself.
