Officials of the anti-narcotic cell on Sunday arrested three persons, including a woman, from Hadapsar for transporting a large quantity of ganja ufffd worth Rs 7 lakh ufffd into the city. The police also recovered an SUV from the three.
The arrested persons were identified as Vijay Mane (51) and his wife Anuradha, who are residents of Rasta Peth, and Netaji Vaddare (24) of Usmanabad.
“We received specific information that the trio was planning to bring a huge haul of ganja to the city from the neighbouring state Andhra Pradesh and we decided to lay a trap,” Police Inspector Sunil Tambe of the anti-narcotic cell said.

He said on Sunday evening Police Sub-Inspector Vinod Patil and other staff lay in wait for the trio in front of the Institute of Aviation Technology (IAT) on Solapur road and apprehended them.
“PSI Patil and his team nabbed the three and seized ganja worth Rs 7 lakh from them,” Tambe said. During sustained interrogation, the suspects revealed that they used to bring ganja from Andhra Pradesh to sell in the city.
“We are investigating the source of the drug in AP and also investigating the receivers in the city,” Patil said.
A case under Section 20B and 29 of the NDPC Act was registered against the three at the Hadapsar police station. The arrested persons were remanded in police custody till August 24.u00a0
