Three youths, including two women, were injured when a Maruti Zen rammed into a lamppost on the Sangamwadi Bridge around 5 pm yesterday.

Kaamna Bahadur Rana (19), Anupama Bahira (19) and Karan Vishwas Gadkari (22) were injured in the accident. They were rushed to the nearby Sancheti Hospital. According to doctors, the three college students were out of danger.

While Rana and Bahira are residents of Lohegaon, Gadkari is from Nagpur.According to the Yerawada police, Gadkari was driving when the vehicle went out of control over a suspected brake failure. They were returning from Shivajinagar when the accident occurred.

"Anupama wanted to buy a vehicle but they found the showroom closed. The accident took place while they were on their way home," said a police official.
