A 26-year-old man allegedly raped a housewife whose son he would tutor, while his accomplice recorded the crime on a mobile phone. According to the police, the accused, identified as Israel Shaikh, earns a living by tutoring kids. His accomplice Shamiullah Idrisi (28) runs a hand-embroidery workshop on the mezzanine of the survivor’s house.
Idrisi allegedly drilled a hole into the floor of his shop, to record Shaikh in the act. On August 4, Shaikh barged into the woman’s house and threatened to kill her son if she didn’t have sex with him. The woman’s husband, who works as a scrap dealer, was out on work at the time of the incident.
After raping her, Shaikh pointed out to her that Idrisi had been recording the entire incident, and threatened to upload the clip onto the web if she didn’t keep quiet. “We have found the clip on the phone of the accused,” said SPI Radheshyam Agarwal of Shivaji Nagar police station, adding, “Shaikh then grabbed the woman’s gold ornaments, and demanded Rs 1 lakh. He needed the money because Idrisi had struck Rs, 50,000 deal with Shaikh.”
The woman registered a complaint on August 6. The two accused were arrested the next day. Investigations revealed that the accused made the woman’s acquaintance when he started to tutor her son. His accomplice Idrisi was a tenant in her home. The accused are now in police custody, and cops are trying to verify if the accused have committed similar crimes earlier. They have been booked for rape, robbery, criminal intimidation and relevant sections of the IT Act.
