Twitter was flooded with condolence messages posted by prominent people including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.

Tweeters mourn Vilasrao Deshmukh's death

Union Minister for Science and Technology and former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, who was air-dashed to Chennai last week due to severe health complications, passed away today.

Twitter was flooded with condolence messages posted by prominent people including Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.


@PMOIndia tweeted - "Prime Minister condoles the passing away of Mr Vilasrao Deshmukh."

Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi posted - "Sad to know about the demise of Shri Vilasrao Deshmukh. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to his family."

Member of Parliament Milind Deora remembered him as an "an able campaigner & administrator and a friend."

Business tycoon Vijay Mallya too expressed his grief in the form of a tweet that read, "Very sorry to hear about the sad passing away of Vilasrao Deshmukh. He was an outstanding leader and a friend."

Famous shooter and one-time Olympic medal-winner Rajyavardhan Rathore tweeted - "RIP Vilasrao Deshmukh. You shared this universe with us... May god grant strength to your family at this hour of grief."

The film fraternity too mourned the death of the former Maharashtra chief minister, whose son Riteish is a Bollywood actor.

Actress Madhuri Dixit posted - "Sorry to hear that Vilasrao Deshmukh has passed away. Our condolences go out to his family."
