Chinnapa Govindarasu, 31, a construction worker, became the 20th Indian to be convicted for the riots, The Straits Times reported.

The court has also ordered to give him three strokes of the cane.

Govindarasu, admitted to being part of an unlawful assembly with at least four others along Race Course Road Dec 8 last year.

The charge said one or more of them also flipped a police car.

A district court heard that Govindarasu was heading towards Race Course Road on that day after consuming alcoholic drink.

The riots erupted after an Indian, Sakthivel Kumaravel, was run over by a bus.
