Nashik: Two farmers allegedly committed suicide over loan burden in drought-affected Chandvad taluka of the district, police said on Thursday.

The deceased were identified as Rambhau Kondaji Vakte (36), a resident of Vadner Bhairav village and Devidas Bhausaheb Chavan (38), a resident of Hirapur village, police said.

Vakte consumed poison after eating dinner at his residence on Wednesday night and died in a hospital during treatment, they said, adding that he was under debt of Rs 8 lakh.

On the other hand, Chavan died in Nashik civil hospital, where he was admitted on May 17 after he had consumed poison, they said.
