However, volunteers of the National Student Union of India (NSUI) said the website was not supposed to carry any such GR. Amir Shaikh, NSUI Secretary, Maharashtra, said, “We visited the vice-chancellor of the university demanding an explanation for the actions. The GR, we found, was not put up by any authorised official of the UoP.”u00a0

Testing times: NSUI members took on varsity staff over a misleading circular

He added, “Such actions mislead students who don’t know which examination they must prepare for. It’s disappointing that such things are happening in a reputed university.” NSUI was told that an enquiry would be carried out into the matter. u00a0The circular stated that BA/BCom/BSc/Computer Science and Biotechnology practical examinations would be held after the theory examinations and theory exams would commence from March 28. But in reality, varsity officials told the NSUI volunteers that they are yet to take a decision over the schedule of the practical examinations.

When we contacted university officials about the matter, faculty member Dilip Dhavale accepted that such an erroneous circular was indeed put on the official UoP website, but has now been now taken off. He also said that more information about the examinations would be given today after the management holds a meeting.u00a0
