The Std XII student of Podar College had slipped into depression as she had performed poorly in exams; an argument with her parents caused her to lock herself in her bedroom and take her life
Unable to cope with the disappointment of poor marks in her first semester examinations, a 17-year-old Std XII student committed suicide at her residence in Santacruz. According to the police, the teenager was depressed about the poor marks. However, no suicide note has been found.

The Vakola police have registered an accidental death report and are recording statements.
Akansha Vaskar lived with her parents at New Air India Colony in Kalina, Santacruz (West). She was the only child to her parents. Her father works with the airline company. She was student of Podar College in Santacruz (West).
Officials from Vakola police station said that Akansha was a meritorious student, usually calm and composed. In recent exams, however, her marks were lower than she had expected. She was depressed and had even spoken to her parents. Her parents had tried to assuage her concerns, but Akansha had slipped into depression.
On Saturday, she had a heated argument with her parents, over a personal matter. She then went into her bedroom, locked herself in, and committed suicide by hanging from ceiling fan.
When they discovered her, Akansha’s parents rushed her to hospital, where she was declared dead. A post mortem was also conducted.
The police are taking statements from her friends to ascertain the exact cause and sequence of events that led to the incident. The police are also trying to find out what triggered the argument between Akansha and her parents. u00a0
