In a bid to halt vicious maladies and dissidence, the five-storied BJP headquarters in the heart of the city has been constructed under the guidance of a Vaastu expert
A SWANKY new building to house the state BJP office has come as a panacea for the internal bickering that is dogging the party.

That's what K Gangadhar, official Vaastu consultant for the party, believes. Besides, he claims that the dissidence shaking the Yeddyurappa government will be put to rest once the building at Kodandaramapura in Malleswaram is inaugurated.
Veteran leader L K Advani will inaugurate the five-storied building, which is named after late BJP leader Jaganath Rao Joshi, at 11 am today. Luminaries including Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, State President K S Eswarappa and State's Party Affair In-charge Dharmendra Pradhan will attend the function.
Construction work began in 2009 and the dissident activities reached its peak after the site was dug up for laying the foundation. Gangadhar had said that things would improve and that the government would stablise once the building was erected. "That is exactly what you are witnessing now," said Gangadhar.
Standing by his claim, he pointed out how the dissidents led by Eswarappa fell in line last week, and the government is looking stable.
Vaastu effect
Earlier, the party office was housed at Bhavu Rao Deshapande Bhavan near Sheshadripuram. In 2005, Gangadhar pointed out defects in the building and cited that as the reason for the party's failure to gain power even after it had emerged as the single largest party in 2004.
Taking his point, party leaders obliged to shift the office to a rented building in Malleswaram, following which the BJP entered in an alliance with the JD(S) to form a coalition government in 2007.
All the right things
As per Gangadhar's Vaastu guidance, all floors have main doors facing north-east with another door on the west side on each floor, which will be responsible for the clean image of the party. This, he said, was the most important requisite for the party at present, since the CM is facing a slew of corruption charges.
"It is believed in Vaastu Shastra that the owner of the house must sit in the south-west corner. Hence, we have built a chamber accordingly and Eswarappa will sit there," said Gangadhar. Since the position of the CM is equally important, a similar chamber is designated for Yeddyurappa on the second floor.
Also, the building has a conference hall, lodging rooms for party workers coming from various parts of the state, and a library.
'It is perfect'
"Gangadhar was overviewing the Vaastu aspects of the building and we are satisfied that we have a perfect building, which suits the requirements of a political party," said E R Ramapriya, who is co-coordinating the construction work.
He added that about 10 per cent work was pending, but they still decided to go ahead with the inauguration, because the time was auspicious.
Meanwhile, Eswarappa said, "I know Vaastu is important, but that is not the only factor that can save our party and the government. We have to be united and work hard."
