Six suspended women Congress corporators trying to forcefully enter the BMC headquarters are allegedly roughed up by policewomen

Six women Congress corporators, who had been suspended by Mumbai mayor Snehal Ambekar at the general body meeting on Monday, were allegedly roughed up by security guards at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation as they were trying to enter the premises on Wednesday.


The corporators who were protesting against their suspension, had first tried to gherao the mayor’s cabin and then tried to forcefully enter the house but BMC security guards stopped them.


They subsequently protested outside the premises.

The mayor had suspended Congress corporators Sheetal Mhatre, Waqarunnisa Ansari, Ajanta Yadav, Parul Mehta, Nayana Seth and Anita Yadav for 15 days for indiscipline and indecent behaviour. 

On Wednesday afternoon, the Congress corporators took to shouting slogan to against the Mayor outside her office while she was having a meeting with some leaders. After the meeting, Congress group leader Devendra Amberkar announced that the mayor had agreed to take back the suspension. However, the Congress corporators were not allowed to attend the general body meeting today, which led to the ruckus and manhandling of Sheetal Mhatre.
