Jazz meets sarangi as Austrian band Rondo Vienna gets set to jam with desi maestro Kamal Sabri this week

Jazz and women go together like fine wine and cheese. Add some desi flavour to the combo and voila, you feel like king. Austrian all-women group Rondo Vienna is all set to entrance you with its gypsy jazz in town this week, and sarangi specialist Kamal Sabri will add that Indian tadka.

Since its foundation, the fanfare of Rondo Vienna has shifted from those into classical music to enthusiasts of pop, too. The girl gang has performed in several European cities like Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Dubai. Founder Barbara Helfgott has been part of many a TV show.

The 'note'book

Rondo Vienna is particularly famous for gala events and concerts. The notes of the band travel down the memory lane, which strikes an instant connect. On the other hand, Kamal Sabri, the seventh generation of a distinguished family of traditional musicians, has demonstrated rich versatility in playing the historical sarangi.
