Incessant rainfall has given rise to a flood-like situation in Bhilwara and Chittorgarh districts of Rajasthan where several people had to be shifted to safer places even as a 13-year-old boy drowned in a rivulet in Kota district.

Normal life was affected in parts of Bhilwara and Chittorgarh where numerous villages and towns were cut off from the district headquarters.

Nearly 40 schoolkids were rescued with the help of the locals of Bijolia area after their schoolbus fell into a river, Chandalia said. Rains have swollen up the rivers in the region with road connectivity of several villages with the district headquarters cut off.

Bhilwara Collector Tina Kumar said district administration teams have been deployed to provide relief to the affected. Another official of the Bhilwara district administration said temporary shelters have been set up for those who had to be shifted from their homes.

Meanwhile, rains continued to lash Bundi, Baran, Jhalawar and Kota districts of Hadouti region for the third consecutive day with rivers and rivulets overflowing. Kota Collector Ravi Kumar Surpur has directed officials to remain alert, take precautionary measures and not to leave the headquarters.

Meanwhile, 13-year-old Arjun Aheer fell into the rivulet and was swept away by the water in Salawad Khurd village under Chechat police station in Kota district. The Kota administration has sounded an alert in the downstream areas of the river.
