Police suspect another servant, who was hired on New Year's Eve, behind the double murder
An 85-year old woman and her servant were murdered allegedly by another servant, hired just two days back, yesterday in her house while her son was abroad on a business trip.
The woman was the mother of a prominent jewellery businessman.
Some cash and jewellery is missing and the police suspect that the domestic help, who had been hired on New Year's Eve without police verification, committed the crime.
Police said that incident took place at the house of jeweller Vijay Tank in Malviya Nagar while Vijay was in Bangkok on a business trip.
"The bodies Munni Devi and his servant Raghuvir Rathore were found by a neighbour Monday morning. He informed the police," a senior police officer said.
He added that the woman had been strangulated to death while Raghuveer was stabbed to death. Raghuveer had also been hired by the woman about 10 days ago.
"Another domestic help, Kunal Kumar claiming to be from Patna in Bihar, had been hired December 31. He is missing after the incident. The house has been searched completely. What is missing will be known when Vijay returns from Bangkok today" said the officer.
