This conman cheated 35 students from Jharkhand and Bihar, promising them admissions in Bangalore colleges
The fact that fake admission racket is still rampant in the city was confirmed with the arrest of 28-year-old
M Sacchidaar Mishra, who not only cheated students from Bangalore, but also from Bihar, where he hails from.
The city police had recently busted a similar racket a few weeks back (Fake admission racket busted, MiD DAY, September 9, 2010).
Primary investigation by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) has revealed that Mishra had cheated more than 35 students.

The modus operandi was quite intricate. First, he created fake documents and forged signatures of principals of various colleges.
He would then visit prestigious colleges in Bihar, and claim that he is an administrator in one of the reputed colleges, and would arrange for seminars.
He would then advice the gathered students that they should join colleges in Bangalore, because the quality of education was better.
His next move was to meet the parents of these students, and convince them to send their children to Bangalore.
This way, he made nearly Rs 1 crore by cheating 20 students in a year. This year, he moved to Jharkhand, and using the same technique, cheated 15 students.
Since none of these students ever got admissions in any college in Bangalore, and they were new to the city, they went back to their hometowns without a complaint.
This emboldened Mishra, and he bought a house in a posh society, and two cars, to lead a lavish life.
But his greed got the better of him. This time, he tried to cheat three city doctors, on the premise of getting their daughters admission in medical colleges, for which he charged Rs 10 lakh each.
But when the doctors realised they have been had, they promptly filed a complaint with the police, who in turn, passed on to the CCB. They took a month to get all the details, and arrested Mishra on 24 September.
Investigations revealed that he had cheated more than 35 people in a really short span.
Special Enquiry Squad ACP Nyamagouda confirmed this and said, "Cheating rich students is an easy job for such conmen. Mishra told us during interrogation that he had a degree in science."
