“President Zardari will invite the PM to visit Pakistan by the end of this year,” said Pakistan Foreign Office spokesman Abdul Basit.
This is the first time that a timeframe has been set up, triggering speculation of substantial talks. Singh and Zardari are expected to discuss “all issues”, including Kashmir and terror, that bedevil the India-Pakistan relationship, sources said.
Zardari will be accompanied by a 40-member delegation. After touching down at 11.30 am, he will head to the PM’s official residence for one-on-one talks, followed by lunch with senior members of the delegation. He will fly in the afternoon to Ajmer to offer prayers at the Sufi shrine of Khwaja Moinuddin Chishti.
