The drunk girl throws up on a bald passenger and faints; much like the talli Malli in Ugly Aur Pagli |
Interestingly, the original film is based on a true story told in a series of love letters written by Kim Ho-sik, who initially posted them on the Internet and later adapted them into a novel. The Korean film was directed by Kwak Jae-yong.
After watching Ugly Aur Pagli, it is obvious how the Indian makers decided to not just lift the plot but also major scenes from the original Korean film, which revolves around a guy's chance meeting with a drunk girl on a train station. Mallika's character is based on the girl who's at the train station while Ranvir is the guy who rescues her.
When contacted, Rangita Nandy refused to comment on the similarities between Ugly aur Pagli and the original film.

Scenes from the original you will find in Ugly Aur Pagli
At the train station on his way home, the hero (played by Ranvir in the remake) observes a drunk girl standing precariously close to the edge of the platform as the train approaches; he pulls her to safety just in time.
Inside the train, he cannot help but stare at the girl. Finally, she throws up on a passenger and faints. The passenger aggressively chides the hero and tells him to take care of his girlfriend.
She begins to become a more active part of his life. Her mood swings wildly from joyful to downright violent but he puts up with it and lets her abuse him for her amusement.
They're walking through the university campus when she suddenly complains about the pain caused by her high-heels and convinces the hero to switch shoes with her. Overjoyed, she tells him to chase her, which he does, wearing her high heels.
