Vancouver? Naah!
By: Tushar Joshi and Upala KBR

India: The Unforgettable Tour featuring the Bachchans, Preity Zinta and Riteish Deshmukh has hit a snag. An Indo-Canadian paper reports that the decision to cancel the show in Vancouver was taken yesterday as there were poor sales, thanks to expensive tickets.
The show organised by Wizcraft was slated for August 17 show at General Motors in Vancouver had local promoters up in arms against each other.

A source reveals, "A US promoter Kamal Sharma had approached Wizcraft to organise the show but the organisers gave it to a new Toronto-based company, Ethnic Groove." The source adds, "Wizcraft wanted to sell the show for $650,000 but that became way too expensive.

Something in the range of $500,000-$550,000 would've put the show back on track for the attendees. There were few buyers as ticket prices were almost double as compared to other shows. A drastic reduction in price was required from Wizcraft to save the show. With the cancellation of the show Ethnic Groove lost a few hundred thousand dollars as they had to refund the sold tickets."

Ticket talk

When we ask Amitabh Bachchan if it is true that the Vancouver show was cancelled because of steep ticket prices, he says, "The show was cancelled because the promoter defaulted on the contract. Meanwhile, we have a fresh request from Germany for a show there. I believe that it has been confirmed for Dusseldorf. It will be after the Amsterdam show on August 30. Get confirmation from Wizcraft, though."

Sabbas Joseph from Wizcraft says, "The ticket prices were not expensive. We didn't want to do the Vancouver show, so we opted out. We always had an option to do the show there but we withdrew the option. These stories are being spread by Kamal Sharma because we didn't give him the shows.

After LA and San Francisco, The Unforgettables will be performing in Houston, Chicago, New Jersey, London and Rotterdam. We felt there was no point going all the way back for nothing for just one show in Canada. We decided to cancel the Vancouver show immediately after the Toronto show."
