New Delhi:

On the eve of the Delhi Half Marathon, actor Ajay Devgan gets talking about his role in the big run with MiDDAY's Pragyan Mohanty.

What brings you to the Delhi Half Marathon?

Kajol and I are representing Harmony - an NGO dedicated to senior citizens. Both of us truly believe in the cause and are here to do our bit.

What significance does a marathon hold for you?

It is a celebration of human spirit where every individual is a story by himself. It is both a humbling and an overwhelming experience and I am really looking forward to it.

Kajol and you will be flagging off the race. What's with being in a race and not sprinting?

True, we won't be participating in the run but that's only because I have to rush back to Mumbai for some work. So the running around is still happening (laughs).

 You are an athletics enthusiast.

Yes. I like to run and jog. I do most of my running on treadmill. I hail from a generation where sports was the only form of recreation. So for me, it is both exercise and entertainment.

Do you encourage your daughter Nysa for sports?

Of course. In fact, I do that to most people I meet. The gadgets and gizmos have dominated our lives so much that kids are glued to the computer or TV screens most of the time. There is not much of physical activity happening. As a parent, I make sure Nysa doesn't turn into a couch potato.

Golmaal Returns has done really well. The year is definitely ending on a high note for you.

Absolutely. It is amazing the way the film has been lapped up by people. When we began filming Golmaal, we never knew we would go this far. The audience has been very kind.
