India: Devgan steps in for a guest appearance in Teen Patti at short notice, at the Big B's behest
Producer Ambika Hinduja approached Akshaye Khanna to do a cameo in Teen Patti. Khanna couldn't do the film at the last minute. A hunt for another actor was launched.
No big actor was willing to be a part of the project at such short notice. That's when lead actor Amitabh Bachchan req-uested Ajay Devgan to step in.
Last-minute exit
A source in the unit reveals, "Akshaye had agreed to be a part of the cameo and he was all geared up to shoot but at the nth hour, he was asked to urgently dub for Shortkut - The Con Is On!, in which he plays the protagonist. So he had to opt out of Teen Patti at the last minute. The set was standing and they needed a replacement urgently."
When Amitabh learnt of the producer's predicament, he called Devgan (who was linked to the project in the initial stages) and asked him to shoot for the two-day part in the film. Devgan agreed immediately." The shoot will happen today.
Close to clan
A source close to Devgan admits, "Though he is shooting for his home production Toonpur Ka Hero, Ajay immediately agreed on the special request of Bachchan as he is very close to the Bachchan clan."
However Bachhan Sr. denies ever calling Devgan, "No, I have not. I don't even know whether they (Khanna and Devgan) are doing a cameo in the film. The director decides all this. Check with her."
