Here's why you won't see Vandana Pathak in Khichdi -- The Movie
Vandana Pathak, the original Jayshree of Khichdi, is missing from the comic caper's big screen outing. Khichdi -- The Film has all the other actors essaying their characters, with Nimisha Vakharia as the new Jayshree Bhabhi. "That is what everyone wants to know," points outs Vandana who is also remembered as Meenakshi from Ekta Kapoor's soap Hum Paanch.
"Ever since the film's promos have been out, this is one question people want the answer to. A few days ago I was in a Lokhandwala store and had women come up to me wondering how I could not have been part of the movie as well!"
The actress blames it on fate. "There are certain things in life just not destined for you. I would have loved to be in the film as I was part of the show since it was conceived as well as in its second season as Instant Khichdi."
When producer J D Majethia started the project, he wanted undivided attention from the cast. Something she could not do at that point of time. "Around the time the project rolled last year, I had committed myself to a Gujarati play Jenu Kissu Garam. There was no way I could have backed out of it as the shows were sold and promotions begun."
Vandana admits that she was extremely upset when she realised that she could not be part of the movie. "Khichdi is what I am remembered for."
She adds, "I tried to work out the dates and fit it in JD's schedule. But it was proving to be extremely difficult so we mutually decided to part ways. But I can understand that as it was his first film production, he just could not wait for me."
Khichdi revolves around a dysfunctional Gujarati family and their eccentricities which includes stuff like using their private plane to dry papads!
